Urban Science Founder and President Jim Anderson, alongside several Urban Science team members, recently attended The Engineering Society of Detroit’s (ESD) Annual Dinner at Ford Field in downtown Detroit. The event hosted professionals representing leading organizations across Michigan; it celebrated ESD’s 125th (2020), 126th (2021) and 127th (2022) years promoting the engineering and scientific professions since in-person gatherings were not possible in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the 2022 awards segment of the event, Urban Science was named Corporate Partner of the Year in recognition of the company’s continued support of ESD’s Girls in Engineering Academy, which creates new engineering pathways for metro Detroit girls – and in turn helps narrow the diversity gap in science, technology, engineering and mathematics careers. Jim Anderson, who was previously honored as ESD’s Horace Rackham Humanitarian Award winner in 2018, proudly accepted the award on behalf of our company as our guests of honor, Girls in Engineering Academy students and parents, enjoyed dinner and the ceremony.
On behalf of Urban Scientists working in Michigan and around the globe, we’re humbled and grateful to do our part to help metro Detroit girls blaze new trails in STEM through our long-term partnership with ESD, and to continue to drive our city, state and nation forward. We congratulate all the evening’s award winners on their achievements and look forward to gathering again next year.
